Summer is fast approaching and the Lions Club is gearing up to run its beach project once again.

The Lions Club has been running this project on Kidston Island for well over 60 years enabling hundreds of local children to learn to swim in a safe environment.

 

The bad news is the Lions Club has to raise nearly all the money needed to pay the student staff, fuel and insure the ferry, and maintain the island infrastructure.

 

The Kidston Beach Curling Classic has become the most important source of the money needed to keep the kids swimming. It happens this year on Saturday, February 3, 2024.

 

This is a non-competitive event intended for both experienced and new curlers. Participants will enjoy three meals, including a beef tenderlion dinner prepared by local Chef Daryl MacDonnell, and a fabulous, not-to-be-missed, all-day dessert buffet. The focus for the day is on having fun and enjoying lots of great food while ensuring that the kids can continue to hone their swim skills close to home.

 

Also during the event, there will be silent auctions of donated items ongoing throughout the day, run by Lion Bill Cooper.  The event will finish with many near-priceless, donated items will be sold at a live auction by auctioneer Pat Matheson.

1. entering a team including six dinner tickets, $300.00
2. sponsoring a table including two dinner tickets, $200.00
3. sponsoring a pair of rocks, $100.00
4. donating an item for the auction
5. making a donation in any amount

 

All contributions will be recognized at the event.
